Station Tours

The Des Moines Media Group welcomes tours of our facilities. You can see up close how our radio stations work each day. You might even meet some of your favorite on-air personalities!

We prefer tour groups to be at least high school age or older. We want tours to be informative, educational, and fun, but we also want to make sure that the time spent at our stations is constructive. We have found that tours with younger kids doesn’t benefit them to the fullest degree. (Special arrangements can be made for tours with a small group of younger visitors)

A basic tour consists of a short station overview, explaining the stations as a business, followed by a visit with an announcer in a studio (when available). This allows the group to see and hear an announcer at work and what it’s like to work in radio. We also show the group how we collect news, weather and other information. Tours generally last 20-30 minutes, depending on group size.

Tours are free.

Tours are only given during specific times and must be booked in advance. So if your group is interested in a tour of the Des Moines Media Group, please contact Kate Garner at (515) 280-1350.
