PART-TIME PROMOTIONS ASSISTANT 

Have you ever dreamed about working with larger than life marketing campaigns? How about helping people experience things money can’t buy? Ever wonder what it’s like to bring laughs and entertainment to thousands of people on a daily basis? You can do this and more as a Promotions Assistant for the Des Moines Radio Group!

As a Promotions Assistant, you’ll work directly with the full-time promotions and marketing staff for the nine DMRG stations. You will be responsible for executing daily operational tasks including promotional copywriting, brainstorming & marketing research on future marketing campaigns, facilitating station contesting, and so much more! Plus, you can’t forget about putting the “Show” in Show-biz by helping us plan and execute station promotional events like the $40,000 Rock Girl Search, Combat Hunger, Summer block parties, Vets of Valor and many more.

Requirements for the Job:

  • Be able to work 15 hours a week but up to 26 hours a week
  • Flexibility to work events on nights and weekends
  • Ability to execute the day to day promotional commitments of the job
  • Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, & PowerPoint
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Responsible for making calls to contest winners & maintaining the DMRG winner database program
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to stay on task
  • Detail oriented and a self-starter
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work with a team
  • Reliable transportation & a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs

Preferred but not required skills:

  • Knowledge of programs such as WordPress and basic design programs
  • Event management and planning experience
  • Strong knowledge of the Des Moines metro area
  • Knowledge of broadcast radio equipment and programs is a perk but not necessary

SUMMER PART-TIME PROMOTIONS

Saga Communications’ Des Moines Radio Group is hiring for seasonal promotions and marketing part-time staff positions for the Summer of 2020! This seasonal position will run from May 2020 through August 2020. If you are a motivated individual who is looking to extend your education and experience in radio broadcasting or the world of marketing and promotions and have a desire to get your foot in the door at Des Moines’ highest-rated group of stations, then you would make a great member of the Des Moines Radio Group Promotions team!

The Des Moines Radio Group Part-Time Promotions Staff will ultimately understand our stations and gain the skills to implement their goals. Through education, preparation and respect, we will offer the most sought after broadcast experience in Iowa. You will get the chance to attend station events, concerts, and private VIP listener parties. Plus, you will have the opportunity to interact and network with department heads, on-air staff, and industry insiders, all excited to help you advance your broadcast career! You will interact with the nearly 300,000 listeners of Des Moines Radio Group’s 9 stations on a daily basis. Requirements for the Job:

PART TIME ON-AIR STAFF

Think you have what it takes to entertain Central Iowa radio listeners? The Des Moines Radio Group, a part of Saga Communications, is looking for part time on-air hosts for Star 102.5, 93.3, KIOA, and LAZER 103.3, as well as producing our sports programming.

Specific duties include the following:

  • Introducing music live on-air
  • Having fun with our listeners
  • Operating the control board
  • Conducting contests
  • Call editing

Applicants must have availability on nights and weekends and experience with Windows-based computers and audio software such as OMT, Voxpro, and audio editing software.

PART TIME BOARD OPERATOR
ESPN 1350, KPSZ PRAISE 94

Do you have a passion for sports? Think you have what it takes to share that passion with Central Iowa radio listeners? Then we have an opportunity for you. You will get the chance of operating the board for sports broadcasts on ESPN 1350 and KPSZ Praise 940 – a great opportunity to gain experience with the technical side of the radio industry!

Specific duties include: operating the control board during sports broadcasts, audio editing, and communicating with sports broadcasters.

Applicants must be able to multitask, pay attention to detail, be available on weekends and holidays, and have experience with Windows-based computers. Experience with audio software such as OMT and Voxpro and audio editing software is also a plus.

DES MOINES RADIO GROUP SPECIAL INTERNSHIP

Do you love listening to the radio and finding a new favorite song? But, do you also like commercials? Are you a quick study with a creative bent? Are you ready to get hands‐on in digital advertising? And, of course, do you want to have some fun this summer, AND get paid? Then this is likely the internship for you!

The 2020 Special Internship with the Des Moines Radio Group will concentrate on learning about Digital Marketing, Strategy & Sales for broadcasting. Additional time will be spent learning about the radio business from studio to the business office, to marketing to assisting with events. After 12‐weeks, you will have a working knowledge of radio, digital marketing, sales, branding, and a few fun stories to share this fall.

The position is up to 26‐hours a week, including some weekends. You will start with a 1‐week overview of the radio business, then move into an intensive 9.5‐week work/ study experience in the Digital Sales and Marketing department (and a stop in web design during that time), followed by 10‐days with promotions, including time at the Iowa State Fair. (Length of assignments may vary.)

Skills or classes that may be helpful for an applicant (applicants will be considered without these):

Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneDrive. Classes or skills in marketing, data tracking/analytics, creative writing, communication – including computer studies, media, and broadcasting. Also, web and/ or graphic design.

Details: The DMRG Special Internship is awarded to a graduating high school senior or current college student with an interest in, and aptitude for, the business of Radio Broadcasting.

  1. Demonstrate their ambition to pursue a career in radio broadcasting.

The DMRG Scholarship is $5,000 (gross) to be paid as taxable wages bi‐weekly during the internship. The student is responsible for any housing costs during the internship.
